Going back to support TK Band as a non-band member alumni, I felt a strong bond within my heart with TK still. The fact that I actually woke up at 4.30am paid for a taxi ride to CCA Branch and queued till 10 am for ticket to watch the SYF Competition showed a lot.
This competition meant a lot to TK, especially for the band members and the Class of 2009 and 2010 because we witnessed the time when TK Band brought glory to TK once again and TK Band losing the title of the Best Display Band to Deyi. Many of us said it was just on loan to Deyi since we'd been holding that tile for a decade, so this time round, we hoped to say the "loan period" had expired.
From the number of alumni who came back to help or support, anybody could tell how imprtant the band is to every TKsian; there were just too many of us. TK band was, unfortunately, not able to sustain the Gold with Honours award despite putting up a remarkable performance.
"The band is the Spirit of TK" was something I overheard a parent saying. Indeed, TK Band isn't just our spirit, it's our soul and life; it never fails to bring us, TKsians together as one, and like I said, Your glory is Our glory. Getting a Gold award isn't good enough to you and that saddens us. From your sweat and tears, we all know that you'd done your best and we loved it! Maybe it's a learning point, maybe it's a time for others to enjoy the glory we'd enjoyed for a short while, maybe it's a time for us to reflect how we can improve ourselves, for failure makes us strive on even harder and this will bring us towards a Greater Success!
This song, Tegami, is dedicated to all band members, past and present...
I felt it was a well-selected song to motivate the band to move on because the past can never be changed and we can only do our best for the next SYF... Keep on Believing!
Here's the translated lyrics to understand the meaning of this song...

Dear you, Who’s reading this letter Where are you and what are you doing now?
For me who’s 15 years old There are seeds of worries I can’t tell anyone
If it’s a letter addressed to my future self, Surely I can confide truly to myself
Now, it seems that I’m about to be defeated and cry For someone who’s seemingly about to disappear Whose words should I believe in? This one-and-only heart has been broken so many times In the midst of this pain, I live the present
Dear you, Thank you I have something to tell the 15-year-old you
If you continue asking what and where you should be going You’ll be able to see the answer
The rough seas of youth may be tough But row your boat of dreams on Towards the shores of tomorrow
Now, please don’t be defeated and please don’t shed a tear During these times when you’re seemingly about to disappear Just believe in your own voice For me as an adult, there are sleepless nights when I’m hurt But I’m living the bittersweet present
There’s meaning to everything in life So build your dreams without fear Keep on believing
Seems like I’m about to be defeated and cry For someone who’s seemingly about to disappear Whose words should I believe in? Please don’t be defeated and please don’t shed a tear During these times when you’re seemingly about to disappear Just believe in your own voice No matter era we’re in There’s no running away from sorrow
So show your smile, and go on living the present Go on living the present Dear you, Who’s reading this letter I wish you happiness
