Gosh, indeed it has been a long time... many things had happened, ups and downs...
Term 3 ended quite nicely with Teachers' Day celebrations but the last week of the term was definitely not easy for me (talk about it in a while)
Early on the Saturday morning, the Student Leaders, who will be heading to Hong Kong for this year's Leadership Expedition at the end of the year, had to meet Mr Rizal at the National Library. We went to the top floor where the Prime Minister delivered his National Day Speech last year!
It was quite a different Saturday morning, knowing more about exciting mountaineering and outdoor expeditions. At least it's better than staying at home to sleep for a little while more. Basically, these ladies are awesome peeps.
They'd been to Cho Oyu in Tibet and crossed the death zone and reached the summit! Death zone in mointaineering refers to the altitude above a certain point where the amount of oxygen cannot sustain human life. Incredible to be able to hit the summit of the world's 6th highest mountains isn't it? Moreoever, they're females!!!
So it was more or less a sharing session on Saturday.
It was time to get physical on Sunday! We headed down to Safra Yishun (where the ladies usually train for high elements) for training, or rather a gain an experiencial try. There were 3 elements, the "ice" wall, abseiling and I forgot what's the last one.
We did the one I've forgotten first. It's climing without belaying, so we slide the agent upwards as we climbed. It was quite interesting and it made climbing faster, not having to worry whether your rope was loose or not.
Then we headed to the second element which was abseling. The initial feeling was quite scary 'cause you had to "sit in the air", but after that, it was a breeze. I wonder why the other schools had so much problems on that.
Due to the time frame, unfortunately, only a few TKsian had a chance to climb the "ice" wall. It's the first artificial ice wall in southeast asia and it's made of high-density foam. So climbers have to wear those spiky-sole shoes and use the blade-like hooks to aid in their climbing. It's quite a pity that I didn't have the chance to climb up that one.
The Women's Everest Team actually planned to go for their final destiny this year, but because of the lack of funds, they have to postponethey trip to Everest till next year. So do give them your support as Singaporeans or mountaineering lovers by donating or buying their products.

National DayThe school decided to go for a rather different approach this year; the National Day Parade style. Instead of holding the concert in the hall immediately, the entire show was down at the Assembly Plaza.
The programme was divided into 4 parts: Pre-parade, Parade, Concert, Grand Finale.
I was in the first 2 segments, and the 2 are of extremely different atmosphere!
Pre-parade was a sing-along cum cheering session and I was super high, trying my best to hype up the school, but I didn't know why my hyper councilors became quite dead and muted when leading the crowd, so frankly speaking, it was unsuccessful.
Right after the tiring screaming, cheering, rara-ing, I ran all the way to my contingent to get into position. I was the contingent commander for guides >.<>
