I need to say this: I GOT MYSELF BOOK 2 OF "HIS DARK MATERIALS", "The Subtle Knife". okay, back to my point...
I was sharing this with Isabel today, and I must say this because the weather is turning awfully bad these days.
I believe many people are actually experiencing the unbearable heat right now (unless you're in an air-conditioned room)and I'm sure you can't wait to jump in to a pool of ice water any moment because you feel just like living in a sauna, am I not right to say so?
Human beings are complaining about what they feel now, but think about it, what was the average of the highest temperature each day? 32-degree-celcius. If not for, sad to say, us, dumb humans, we won't be living in this state.
Great inventors invented machines to make work easier for us, however, we over rely on them and we're now destroying not only other animals' habitat, but also our very own habitat.
Don't you find it really dumb to switch on the air-conditioner when you're feeling warm (NOT unbearably hot, but just slightly warm!)? Look at it this way, when you want to cool down the temperature, you switch on the air-conditioner, and somehow that rectangular box produces cool air to please you. At the same time, it produces CFCs and whatever-not which enhances global warming. In other words, when you switch on the (I really need to use this word) damn air-conditioner, you're simply making tomorrow hotter! It makes no sense to cool yourself this moment and suffer a hotter day tomorrow right?
If people in the past were able to survive without relying on that rectangular thing, I don't see a reason why we cannot do the same.
I'm wondering how reliable can education be in conveying the message to save our precious planet, the only place where we all can live in. Probably it's not the fault of the education about this issue, or else I wouldn't be bringing this up right now.
If it's hot in Singapore, it can be 10-degree-ceilcius or even hotter in the desert.
If you're complaining about the temperature, have you ever even realise that it's the consequences of global warming? And who caused all these to happen? Stupid human beings like you and I whom lead a lifestyle gradually wrecking our own home.
People, is it worth turning on the air-conditioner?
