birthday celebrationY

My actual birthday isn't today, but because tomorrow is Mother's Day and I'll be getting back some of my papers + there'll be post-poned Road Run, so there you go, I can only have a proper celebration today (not that I must have 1, but I guess I won't have the opportunity and time next year?).

Well, it's been quite a day for me.

Groceries in the morning was considered last minute? And, gosh, living expenses are really scary... just to prepare for today's occasion actually cost as much as 1½-month of normal gorceries for my family.
(It's really hard on my parents... I'm really grateful for that)

Mummy helped to prepare a lot, from the marinating to the wrapping (with aluminium foil).
I made almond jelly and did the cutting.

Oh, I actually cleaned the living room like crazy, sweeping then vacuuming then mopping then wiping then clearing. I'm glad I did a great job! (opps... self-praise)

Astrid, Vivian and Sharmane cameover earlier to help out. We bought more drinks and rented DVD to watch.
Astrid and Vivian helped to pick Mark and Yin Shuang from Eunos MRT station.
Sharmane helped me with the food preparation.

(I have to mention this)
Asha was the FIRST to come... can you believe it? 10 minutes before 6pm!

TW kor set up our super innovative BBQ pit! He really did a lot, cooking, entertaining, without him, I really don't know how I'd handle the guests.
(I'm grateful for that too!)

SURPRISE guests!!!
Li Juan and Crytal mentos came! Gosh, without them, my family members would really had to juggle with overwhelming tasks when they're supposed to sit back, relax and enjoy. Not that my mentos were supposed to do the cooking, but I just didn't want to create trouble to tire my family.

Well, I should give myself a pat on the back for making so many people's day. They came, had fun, even had a chance to meet "old" pals, that's all that made me feel appreciated.

This birthday party actually made me recall the one I had when I was in Primary 3...
I invited almost 20 over people but only 2 turned up for my faithful birthday fell on 12 May, the second Sunday of May, and most primary school kids were out with their moms. I didn't blame them for that~
Very clearly I remembered, only Jiah Shin and Melissa attended. So we hada hell lot of nonsensical impromptu games and we even vandalised the floor at the corner of a block as markings to mark out who traveled the furthest on the gigantic wooden skateboard-like thing.
Fond memories once agiain...

Anyway, this year's gifts are really special.

Astrid & Sharmane: Thanks for the cute pink box (which looks like the McDonald's Happy Meal's) with the photo and the cookie mirror! Gosh, I think I'm going to be vain 'cause I've such an adorable and handy mirror to carry around!

TW kor: Thanks for your mini, silver belt. I know it's a super cool belt. Thanks for the entire night =)

Weilin & HuiMin & Ariel: You peeps actually got me the whole series of "His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman! Thanks a gazillion!

Clarissa & Yuyi: Argh! Argh!! Argh!!! A huge bag, brand new! I've never had such a handy, chio, NEW bag! Not that I'm materialistic, but gosh, you know what I mean. I actually like your cards better, like very sincere... but the thought for the gift... I'll take care of the bag.

Soo Han: Lady Boss, I like your gift! The photoframe is so cool! Something I have been looking for. Oh, and the little bottle thingy is so pretty! Lady Boss 就是 different.

Vivian & Yin Shuang: Haha... your 2-in-1 card is so funny and sweet. I'll wait for next year... haha, jkjk. Told you already, your presence was the best present!

Edwin Peter: Didn't know you've a sweet side too...haha. The teddy looks to Edwin, as in, it's so innocent like when I first knew you in Youth Congress. Thanks a lot.

Asha: I knew someone amongst my friends would give me something to add on to my accessories collection. It's great that you got me ear studs, something not too big, so I can wear them in school =)

Mento(r)s: These 2 more pairs of hands were indeed a best gifts I could ask for for the night. I really didn't want to tire my family members for they had already done a lot for me. Thanks jiejies for giving me your moral support by coming down =)

Aunt Ah Yew: I really like the hand-made necklace, it's one of the nicest necklaces I've ever seen. Thanks for coming to accompany my mummy too =)

And OF COURSE,
Daddy & Mummy: Thanks for the energy, effort, time and hard-earned money just to please this little unthoughtful daughter of yours. I should have listened to mummy and korkor and had the BBQ at the park instead. Thinking back, maybe they'd be so engrossed in their games that they forget about the food, so... I don't know.
I'll clean the house tomorrow not just because it's Mother's Day, but because it's a mess I created (the house like oily). I hereby sincerely apologise to my dearest parents for causing your bedroom to smell like East Coast BBQ pits =X I'm SO SORRY!!

Like I've said earlier, the pressence of my guests were actually good enough, it's not really the present that matter.

Hmmm... Monday is my actual birthday, but with the papers and road run, plus, there'll be a meeting with the Principal, I guess Monday will not be such an easy-going birthday like it have always been before. I'll be running for my House this time round, though I'm not a runner.

I guess there'll be more surprises on Monday, hopefully... haha =P
