14th Student Leaders Convention @ Hwa Chong InstitutionY

Into Day 2 of the convention where the actual convention actually started. The structure of the entire meeting is a little confusing if you're not involved in this convention, but basically there are 2 issues : Strengthening Fundamental Education and Developing Affective Education, which branches out to 3 main components for each issue. So for the 6 main components, 6 groups (or rather, Youth Organisations) would have to work on a given component from the 6. Thus, there're 36 groups, tackling 6 main components under 2 key issues.

Today was all about interaction, communication and sharing of experiences and ideas. For almost five-eighth of the day, we were brainstorming in out own Youth Organisations and putting all our ideas each into a word document within 5 hours. Well, for my group, we somehow got to know one another better in terms of a leader, our leadership styles, our experiences, as well as simply our different way of expressions. Those in my team would know about some misunderstanding, however, it was good that we all tried to resolve it. Sadly, due to some stubborn mind-set, all we can say is that we've tried our best already.

Other than that, we had lots of fun sharing lame jokes and nonsensical nonsense. Debating with one another was quite funny because neither party was willing to give in but eventually understood each other's point.

After the 5-hour discussion, it was time for cluster meeting. The 6 Youth Organisations working on the same component got together to share their Action Paper with the other 5 groups while the others could comment on their workplan.

Most participants like myself, didn't understand the need for the meetings to be that formal, having to ensure that:
1. Participants are to show proper respect to the speaker at all times and refrain from talking while the speaker is speaking.

2. Participants are to identify themselves and his/her youth organisation before speaking.

3. Participants are reminded that eating or drinking is not permitted during all meeting proceedings.

4. A formal tone of speech should be adopted during cluster meetings. Proper decorum must be observed at all times.

5. Participants are reminded to be in formal attire at all times.

6. Participants are allowed to pass notes discreetly using the SLC notepads provided when communication between participants is necessary. Participants may request for the facilitators' assistance in passing notes. Participants can also direct queries to the Cluster/Consortium Directors through note passing.

7.Participants are reminded that notes should be of an appropriate formal tone and register. The content of notes should pertain only to the convention proceedings, and should not be phrased in a derogatory or inflammatory manner.
E.g.
To: Jack (Marvell)
From: Jill (Izel)
I personally don't agree that under the section "description of solution", clause i, that youths can really influence many people from other generations, such as their family and friends. I would like to propose for the removal of that sentence.
Do I have your support?

8.Facilitators are to screen all notes before delivering them. Notes with in appropriate content will be dealt with at the facilitator's discretion.

The tone was super formal, and we had to speak in the 'third person' point of view. So the language used was confusing and irritating because most of us were not used to it. And with regards to the note passing, it's totally impossible to let the facilitator screen through every single note and they weren't even interested in being busy in that job?! So most of us were passing notes all around, some even played 'Hang-man'...lol

Gosh, whenever someone did not follow the rules, the director would ring the bell and say," ________ is not an order", which makes people laugh and he'd ring the bell again and say," Laughing is not an order."
But well, the director was quite humorous and ended everything by saying," Clapping is now an order."

I guess I have to tahan (endure) the formality of the meetings for 2 more days. Well, I think I'm quite use to getting up early, taking my Dad's car with my 2 other good pals and travelling all the way from the east to the west on the highway. I like the school's environment, not because it's an all-boys school ( -.-''') but because it's so nicely built with so many facilities and monuments and ponds/rivers? and... there're just too many to state.

Looking forward to tomorrow's programmes, although it's just boring, sleepy cluster and consortium meetings. I think I'll be looking forward to the address by the guest-of-honour as all of us are to be in our most formal attire (blazers and courtshoes), and it's the one and only happening that is different...haha

P.S. Sharmane's Dad carpooled SooHan to Hougang after today's convention. As this sometimes blur (not when she's doing serious stuff) President of our council alighted from the car, she was hit by an on-coming vehicle. How careless! She was then sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital's A&E.

When I called her, she was still in the hospital. She told me that her leg was purple and couldn't walk. That's sad.

She couldn't go for the orientation of the convention due to her athletics training yesterday, and she will not be able to turn up tomorrow and most probably the day after as well.

Nevertheless, my friend, do take good care of yourself. Safety and health comes first. You already had a sprained ankle before this! Rest well and recover soon alright?
I'll go visit you tomorrow after the convention, so don't sleep during that period ya?

14th Student Leaders Convention @ Hwa Chong InstitutionY

This gigantic convention started off as a 1-day conference 13 years ago and today, it has become such a huge event with at least 50 schools participating, including foreign schools! This 14th convention is a joinedly organised by Hwa Chong Institution (High School), Nanyang Girls' High School and Singapore Chinese Girls' School (Secondary), and the facilitating schools are the 3 schools previously stated as well as River Valley High School and CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls' School.

It was just Day 1 of the 4-day convention, well, actually 'tis 3 days as the 1st day was basically just having fun and games as an orientation to familiarize with our groups.

I'm proud to be in the all mighty FIRMINUS! Did I just used the word 'mighty'? Fine, it was exaggerated. We didn't really understand what that meant until when we had to paint a banner of our own. So Alvin, our [fac]t (aka facilitator), explained that FIRMINUS simply means firm, as I had thought. And we'd also realise this : FIRM-IN-US makes up FIRMINUS!!! That's incredibly awesome!

Day 1 had been interesting, having to meet new people (and some others I met from NYGR Youth Congress and TKGSPB Conference), played my favourite urban hike-style games in my favourite area in Singapore!

I'll try my best to snap some pictures if I can for the next few days =D
Can't wait!

Update!Y

TKGSPB Conference

I attended the TKGSPB Conference yesterday just next door (at TKG) together with the 4 other Exco members. It's a great experience, having to meet other prefects and student councillors, even "long lost" friends like Han Yi!

It was like an "inspiring" morning for it made me really want to do something to help people or even the earth as a young leader after listening to the 2 keynote speakers, Norma Sit and Martin Tan. Gosh, it was the 3rd time I'd heard Martin Tan and hey, he should get more substance to make his speeches a little different everytime? Nevertheless, he's always able to hyped up the audience. Both speakers were really very engaging. Norma presented her speech in a different approach for she had mistaken that the conference since held in a girls' school was for girls, hence it was all about girl power. As in, she was saying about how women have always been neglected and seen as the "useless" ones in society and we're lucky to be living in Singapore where women rights had already been fought for, and that we should help other women out there in the world suffering in silence for MORE THAN HALF OF THE WORLD'S POPULATION ARE FEMALES.

Lessons learnt from these 2 inspirational speakers:

-Someone with a Sense of Self, Purpose and Direction, Who can Show the Way is a successful Leader with that 'X' factor.

-Never doubt Your potential. Why will youngsters laugh if I were to say,' The girl sitting beside you right now can be a first female Prime Minister of Singapore.' Why? Because those who laugh are doubting her ability and potential.

-No one can ever be a leader if he has no followers.

-Leadership is NOT just about people in positions of power, but about people in positions of influence.

-Be the change; make it happen from today.

The second half of the day was more on games and interactions. I think my group was quite open? I don't know, but we were like "having silent communications at the beginning, and then some were doing a lot of the talking, and finally we became friends" that kind of thing?. I saw many different styles and characters of leadership. Oh, and we'd got the "Walker" and "Tofu guy" in our group; long story short, it's funny =)

The time spent with these people from various schools was definitely beneficial and I've learnt a lot from each and every one of them, be it their approach of leadership or socialising skills or whatsoever.

What was to interesting to the 5 TK Excos, was the view of TK from TKG!
It's like every morning, we see "green ants" marching back to the school building next door, and the volume of their PA system is always so loud, and we always wonder what's it like to be on that side.
TK seemed big from TKG. Okay, I don't think that TK is small now =D TKG doesn't have an auditorium, but their studio is a pretty cool place. Let's not compare.

Anniversary

Well, today's Dad and Mum's 28th wedding anniversary. Quite impressive ya?

They had a wonderful stay at a hotel last night and we just had a scrumptious dinner (comprising Black Pepper Crab and healthy brown rice and Thai Toufu) at Hwa Yew.

Sadly, all my other siblings were unable to join us.

May Daddy and Mummy be so loving forever!
I believe kor and jie feel the same way too... belssings from your kids =)

Birthday BeginningY

Today marks the 1st day of the 15th year of my life, that's 1999743.75 days gone, 47993850 hours spent!

Well, over these 15 years, I've really grown a lot and have feel and seen the difference. This year being the year I have to get an IC, I shall take it as it's a year for me to move 1 step away from relying too much on my family. I don't mean getting a job or running away from home, but just to worry them less, you know, that kind of thing. I've got to take care of myself!

Okay, today has been quite a day for me. My day was pleasant with so many people approaching me, giving me their best wishes and birthday greetings. 3 more gifts were added to my collection of presents, from Bernice, Hwee Ling and Kenneth.

Can you believe this, for those who don't know, Kenneth's actually in the same class as me for my entire life in TK and we both share the same birthdate! Hence we made it a point to exchange gifts every year.
So I gave him to different types of "walking sushi" for the passed 2 years and I got him a very nice little toy-like wooden pen this year. Let's not recall about what he gave me in the past, this year, this "twin" of mine was actually very thoughtful and I heard he was having a hard time thinking of what to get me. Well, it's the thought that counts anyway =)
Happy Birthday, twin!

You see, I've said many times that Sec 3 has been a tough year for me. To effectively solve most of my problems, I decided to listen to my brother (I'm not going on the bet, kor), to not use the computer for MSN, blogging and Friendster probably from today till the end of term 3 or term 4, or even after the 'O's.

This is the beginning...
I'm not saying that I won't come back here, but just less frequent.
I can always go to my friend's place to use the computer, which means it's not as easily accessible as it has always been.
It's just a way to control myself.

So, another birthday, a new beginning; I hope life improves.

P.S Sincerely, I thanked all who came to me and wished me happy birthday today, or yesterday, or the day before yesterday. Let you know the truth, it's the first time so many people actually wished me well on such a special day. I'm seriously touched.

P.S.S Sorry about the word "actually". I realised I've been using it quite often.

Mother's DayY

Happy Mother's Day to all mums out there!

I just had a scrumptious feast at Crystal Jade Restaurant in Changi Airport T3.
Gosh, it was really really good.
Let's not talk about the price >.<

I hope that Mummy had a good time there.

Too full to talk, I guess I'd just read The Subtle Knife.

adios

birthday celebrationY

My actual birthday isn't today, but because tomorrow is Mother's Day and I'll be getting back some of my papers + there'll be post-poned Road Run, so there you go, I can only have a proper celebration today (not that I must have 1, but I guess I won't have the opportunity and time next year?).

Well, it's been quite a day for me.

Groceries in the morning was considered last minute? And, gosh, living expenses are really scary... just to prepare for today's occasion actually cost as much as 1½-month of normal gorceries for my family.
(It's really hard on my parents... I'm really grateful for that)

Mummy helped to prepare a lot, from the marinating to the wrapping (with aluminium foil).
I made almond jelly and did the cutting.

Oh, I actually cleaned the living room like crazy, sweeping then vacuuming then mopping then wiping then clearing. I'm glad I did a great job! (opps... self-praise)

Astrid, Vivian and Sharmane cameover earlier to help out. We bought more drinks and rented DVD to watch.
Astrid and Vivian helped to pick Mark and Yin Shuang from Eunos MRT station.
Sharmane helped me with the food preparation.

(I have to mention this)
Asha was the FIRST to come... can you believe it? 10 minutes before 6pm!

TW kor set up our super innovative BBQ pit! He really did a lot, cooking, entertaining, without him, I really don't know how I'd handle the guests.
(I'm grateful for that too!)

SURPRISE guests!!!
Li Juan and Crytal mentos came! Gosh, without them, my family members would really had to juggle with overwhelming tasks when they're supposed to sit back, relax and enjoy. Not that my mentos were supposed to do the cooking, but I just didn't want to create trouble to tire my family.
(Thanks to both of you once again for helping me.)

Well, I should give myself a pat on the back for making so many people's day. They came, had fun, even had a chance to meet "old" pals, that's all that made me feel appreciated.

This birthday party actually made me recall the one I had when I was in Primary 3...
I invited almost 20 over people but only 2 turned up for my faithful birthday fell on 12 May, the second Sunday of May, and most primary school kids were out with their moms. I didn't blame them for that~
Very clearly I remembered, only Jiah Shin and Melissa attended. So we hada hell lot of nonsensical impromptu games and we even vandalised the floor at the corner of a block as markings to mark out who traveled the furthest on the gigantic wooden skateboard-like thing.
Fond memories once agiain...

Anyway, this year's gifts are really special.

Astrid & Sharmane: Thanks for the cute pink box (which looks like the McDonald's Happy Meal's) with the photo and the cookie mirror! Gosh, I think I'm going to be vain 'cause I've such an adorable and handy mirror to carry around!

TW kor: Thanks for your mini, silver belt. I know it's a super cool belt. Thanks for the entire night =)

Weilin & HuiMin & Ariel: You peeps actually got me the whole series of "His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman! Thanks a gazillion!

Clarissa & Yuyi: Argh! Argh!! Argh!!! A huge bag, brand new! I've never had such a handy, chio, NEW bag! Not that I'm materialistic, but gosh, you know what I mean. I actually like your cards better, like very sincere... but the thought for the gift... I'll take care of the bag.

Soo Han: Lady Boss, I like your gift! The photoframe is so cool! Something I have been looking for. Oh, and the little bottle thingy is so pretty! Lady Boss 就是 different.

Vivian & Yin Shuang: Haha... your 2-in-1 card is so funny and sweet. I'll wait for next year... haha, jkjk. Told you already, your presence was the best present!

Edwin Peter: Didn't know you've a sweet side too...haha. The teddy looks to Edwin, as in, it's so innocent like when I first knew you in Youth Congress. Thanks a lot.

Asha: I knew someone amongst my friends would give me something to add on to my accessories collection. It's great that you got me ear studs, something not too big, so I can wear them in school =)

Mento(r)s: These 2 more pairs of hands were indeed a best gifts I could ask for for the night. I really didn't want to tire my family members for they had already done a lot for me. Thanks jiejies for giving me your moral support by coming down =)

Aunt Ah Yew: I really like the hand-made necklace, it's one of the nicest necklaces I've ever seen. Thanks for coming to accompany my mummy too =)

And OF COURSE,
Daddy & Mummy: Thanks for the energy, effort, time and hard-earned money just to please this little unthoughtful daughter of yours. I should have listened to mummy and korkor and had the BBQ at the park instead. Thinking back, maybe they'd be so engrossed in their games that they forget about the food, so... I don't know.
I'll clean the house tomorrow not just because it's Mother's Day, but because it's a mess I created (the house like oily). I hereby sincerely apologise to my dearest parents for causing your bedroom to smell like East Coast BBQ pits =X I'm SO SORRY!!

Like I've said earlier, the pressence of my guests were actually good enough, it's not really the present that matter.
Ee Sheen, Mark, Justin, Zhen Yuan, Cousin Johan.

And those who tried to make it.
Ryan Lai, Estee, Michelle Goh, Chong Swee, Serene, Bernice, Alvin Poh, Poh Jun Jie, Eileen, Ariel, HuiMin, Hew Kit, Dean, QiXiang, SiYuan, Sharon, Kenneth, Gary, Isabel, Hazel, Brenda Sim.

To other friends out there, my house isn't that big, so I could not invite so many people. If I could, I would really want everybody I know to turn up!

Hmmm... Monday is my actual birthday, but with the papers and road run, plus, there'll be a meeting with the Principal, I guess Monday will not be such an easy-going birthday like it have always been before. I'll be running for my House this time round, though I'm not a runner.

I guess there'll be more surprises on Monday, hopefully... haha =P

never before had anyone actually BBQ at the balcony like that,
cool right?
eating, chatting, playing
what's that shar?
Cousin playing cards with other TKsians.
Peter, I can see your deck...
Daddy & Mummy
The Pink Twins, just kidding.
Mummy and my aunt
Bengawan Solo Mango Passion cake~happy~birthday~to~me~
dearest family members
sweetest mentos (new flavours)
those who made it till the cake ceremony
see that "white mole"?
that's cream from my cake

All the gifts received!

Update!Y

As I'd said before, it's time to update!

5 April,
NYGR Youth Congress: P2P Assembly
This was the very last day of our Youth Congress project, and this was the very day all 12 schools shared our projects, experiences and learning points with the guests from the education industries comprising teachers, principals and students from different schools, the MOE officials and of course the Guest-of-Honour Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee. Our Principal didn't come (but we all knew he'd love to if he could make it) but the Vice Principal Mdm So around to give us her support.

Let me bring you through the entire project...
1. the TKteam comprising Ryan Lai (team leader), Estee Chua (assistant leader), me (designer), Clarissa Cheng, Sharmane Ng, Ng Soo Han, Vivian Lin, Rifat Hidayat and Edwin Peter, were chosen to represent our beloved Tanjong Katong Secondary School for this project on youth problems.

2. We were introduced to the 4 topics in September last year, which was also the beginning of our journey. They were: Theft, Bullying, Gangsterism, Cyber-wellness; and my team chose Bullying because we felt that it's not really a crime, but it affects many people without them knowing that bullying is actually taking place and also, the consequences can be so bad that it may affect a person life-long.

3. We had a 3D2N camp at Serimbun Campsite, went through workshops and team-builing games and did many crazy things. I believed I'd posted some thoughts and feelings last December.

4. We brainstormed over the December holidays, came up with our logo, publicity materials, skit, seeking approval from the principal, contacting suppliers, everything. The blueprint was laid out, SET!

5. PHASE 1:Once school reopened, we continued to work on our plan and polished up everything to be prepared for the big day, the Anti-Bullying Day, on the 28th of January this year.
-Soo Han kicked it of by giving an opening speech to the entire school about our project. Then we gave out wristbands to every single TKsian including the teachers and non-teaching staff so that everyone could wear it to show their support.
-Up at the school hall, the 9 of us presented a skit on what's the wrong and the right thing to do when facing bullying situations to the lower secondary students.
-During the Character Education lesson for 3A and 3B, Ryan, Estee, Sharmane, Vivian, Soo Han and Edwin took charge and educate their classmates on anti-bullying, which include the game of "Deal or No Deal".
-The second part of the Character Education lesson was to head down to the assembly plaza for the Symbolic gesture. Parents joined in, lower secondary students joined in as it was their recess, teachers joined in, the Principals joined in, and the end product was just magnificant.
-We set up an Anti-Bullying booth and had the Parents Support Group to help us too. We believe that to resolve bullying problems, parents have to play their part and let their children know that they can always look up to their parents anytime for support. Anyone and everyone who passed by actually came to pen down their thoughts and feelings about bullying and our project, and later we put together all these little pieces of paper together to create our mural wall.

6. our aim is to raise awareness among people about the severity of bullying and the different types of bullying. PHASE 2: In order to reach out to more youths and the community, we sent out our brochures and posters to schools and community clubs, including Paya Lebar Methodist Girls' School (Secondary), Chung Cheng High (Main), Victoria School, Broadrick Sec, Northlight School, Geylang Serai CC and Marine Parade CC.

7. We didn't want to stop just there. PHASE 3: We visited 1 of TOUCH Yong Arrow's Clubs, the Marine Parade Club at Ngee Ann Primary to bring the anti-bullying message across to the kids. This group of children come from the lower income families with not a very good family background, hence they may be more prone to becoming a bully themselves, therefore our purpose to raise awareness among them.
-Instead of using powerpoint slide, we used majong paper and illustrated our points, and simplified the texts so that it was easier for the kids to understand. We introduced the different types of bullyings to them.
-We presented our entertaining skit to them as well.
-Kids love games, so we had interactive games with them and we all enjoyed ourselves.

8. Next up was to wrap up all we had done to prepare for our final presentation for judging. It was really difficult to meet up because of the different schedules we had due to our different classes, subject combinations and activity involvements. We actually had a proper rehearsal and finalised everything on judging day itself! TKsians are best at quality last minute work... opps, haha!

9. Upon knowing that we didn't had the best project, there wasn't much to worry about because we didn't had to present on P2P (peer-to-peer) Assembly. However, we had meetings to brainstorm about how we were suppose to set up our exhibition area, but we ended up playing and as usual, quality last minute work. I think we were the last school to leave the hotel the night before the assembly, which was the one and only preparation time.

I really want to thank NYGR (National Committee on Youth Guidance and Rehabilitation) and NYC (National Youth Council) for creating this Youth Congress. I've bonded so much with just people whom I initially acknowledge their existance (the other 8 of you), made new friends from the 11 other schools (especially PLMGSS)and TOUCH Youth Services (Mentos: Crystal, Li Juan, Andrew; Advisors: Uncle Lawrence, Karen).

My sweetest, richest and lowest point of life actually happened within that 6 months and it was really the TKteam which supported me to step out of my comfort zone to learn more and be the best I can ever be during the best times of my life, and always being there for me, cheering me on to strive on during the down periods. I'll never forget you people ever, for all of you are very precious to me. Thanks for all the encouragement and support, really.

I've learnt a lot and these experiences and lifeskills will live with me forever. It's difficult to just say verbally how I'm feeling right now because it's really something that you've to go through yourself to be able to understand that sense of satisfaction and enrichment each and every one of us have.

supposedly stressful period, overY

For some of us in TK, today was the last day of the Mid-Year Exams. I'm considered lucky, for I'm one of them too.

As said in this post's title, the examinations period was supposed to be the most stressful period for most schooling teens. However, it was probably the only period I got to have time for myself.

Since the start of Sec 3, I've never really felt like this, and this time, I really feel how (I won't want to say relaxed) at ease I was to spend time with myself (though I was with my friends), talk to myself (I'm not nuts; that's just a simple way to understand myself), take a break from the usual hectic schedule.
Before exams, it life was just like travelling in a bullet train, but I just didn't know when the next stop will be and when will my destination arrive. It's just plain busy, sometimes not knowing what for. Probably only stressing myself out, maybe still having very high expectations from myself, but I just really want to be as good as I used to be (in terms of academics) and at the same time, continue to strive towards my passion and what I believe in, and to continue to be a better person.

I've seen the peak of my growth last year; if I'm not wrong, I was ranked 103/323 and 129/320 in my level last year, and I saw my inner ability grew as well. I felt like the most successful person on earth at the end of the year, being able to sustain academically and being able to be a better person.

This year haven't been an easy year and I know I should by now be able to get use to the lifestyle. It's a shame that because I haven't seen the results of my expectations, I no longer have the almost unmoveable determination I used to have so as not to be affected by negative remarks and influences around me.
I don't really bother about the remarks, but I see the power of peer pressure. Never had I thought that I can be so easily affected. I'm defeated.

Once next week starts, I should be on the go like it was, preparing for investiture and guides' test works and that kind of thing, you know. Hectic life, like it used to be, simple. That's why exams period is a time for me to chill a little, NOT slack (it's exams, people!).

I do hope that I can score good enough for this exams. Studying the hard way didn't help for the last common test, so I tried another style of studying. I've been a student for the last 9 years and I still don't have a comfortable and suitable style of studying, can you believe it?
Okay, let me phrase it this way, the ways I used to study to do well somehow doesn't seem to work for me now. Hence, I'm still experimenting with other alternatives. I can't just stop, right? Hopefully it will be at least slightly better, but I do hope that the best solution can be found as soon as possible before anyone's even counting down to my 'O' levels.

Most probably I'll end up like a wrinkled baby, being pessimistic and sobbing and all those you-know-what again, if I fail to do good enough. I wonder if I'll still be able to see hope and continue to stay determine. I can't blame 3J, they're a fine bunch. It's just me.

I need encouragement and motivation, not verbally but with actions. It's my only drive, perhaps. It's an URGENT NEED.

Since the exams are over and there're still 4 days to the release of the papers from the various subjects, I shall just do whatever I like and who knows, my daily routine may change from that special Monday.

I've started reading on "The Subtle Knife" today. I'm a slow reader, so it'll be a miracle if I'm able to finish it by before the Hwa Chong Camp.

I'll be updating on some happenings before the exams these few days too... so much had happened and there're so much more coming up...

Complaing about the hot weather?Y

I need to say this: I GOT MYSELF BOOK 2 OF "HIS DARK MATERIALS", "The Subtle Knife". okay, back to my point...

I was sharing this with Isabel today, and I must say this because the weather is turning awfully bad these days.

I believe many people are actually experiencing the unbearable heat right now (unless you're in an air-conditioned room)and I'm sure you can't wait to jump in to a pool of ice water any moment because you feel just like living in a sauna, am I not right to say so?

Human beings are complaining about what they feel now, but think about it, what was the average of the highest temperature each day? 32-degree-celcius. If not for, sad to say, us, dumb humans, we won't be living in this state.

Great inventors invented machines to make work easier for us, however, we over rely on them and we're now destroying not only other animals' habitat, but also our very own habitat.

Don't you find it really dumb to switch on the air-conditioner when you're feeling warm (NOT unbearably hot, but just slightly warm!)?
Look at it this way, when you want to cool down the temperature, you switch on the air-conditioner, and somehow that rectangular box produces cool air to please you. At the same time, it produces CFCs and whatever-not which enhances global warming.
In other words, when you switch on the (I really need to use this word) damn air-conditioner, you're simply making tomorrow hotter! It makes no sense to cool yourself this moment and suffer a hotter day tomorrow right?

If people in the past were able to survive without relying on that rectangular thing, I don't see a reason why we cannot do the same.

I'm wondering how reliable can education be in conveying the message to save our precious planet, the only place where we all can live in. Probably it's not the fault of the education about this issue, or else I wouldn't be bringing this up right now.

If it's hot in Singapore, it can be 10-degree-ceilcius or even hotter in the desert.

If you're complaining about the temperature, have you ever even realise that it's the consequences of global warming? And who caused all these to happen? Stupid human beings like you and I whom lead a lifestyle gradually wrecking our own home.

People, is it worth turning on the air-conditioner?
